The 2019 Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru has a leaner nose, not dissimilar to the Rapet. Touches of beeswax and white linen come through with time in the glass. The palate is quite rounded in texture, though not as concentrated as Remi Rollin's Corton-Charlemagne, with a generous helping of ginger and lemongrass enlivening the slightly honeyed fruit. This builds gently in the glass, yet it dips just before the finish line due to alcohol and leaves you wanting more. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting.

Cask sample. Lovely lemony first impression before the oak spice kicks in. Nicely savoury aroma. The oak gives a sweetness on the palate to balance the crisp acidity. Well-proportioned, with deep citrus fruit and good length. Moreish and approachable despite its youth. (JH)
The 2019 Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru is showing nicely, opening in the glass with scents of pear, orange oil, clear honey, blanched almonds and fresh bread. Medium to full-bodied, concentrated and textural, it's rich and fleshy, with bright acids girdling its enveloping core of fruit.
