The 2019 Marsannay Clos du Roy (Domaine Gagey) unwinds in the glass with notes of cherries, cassis and plums, framed by a deft touch of toasty new oak. Medium to full-bodied, round and gourmand, with succulent acids and velvety tannins, it's very charming in profile.

The 2019 Marsannay Clos du Roy has a light and quite floral bouquet of violet-tinged red fruit; maybe just a hint of volatility here. The palate is medium-bodied with crunchy red fruit. This sample came across a little oakier than I would have liked on the entry. Hopefully that will be absorbed by the time of bottling.
