Tasting notes
The 2018 Nuits Saint-Georges Les Chaignots 1er Cru has a lovely ripe, rounded bouquet with rose petal, cranberry and crushed strawberry fruit. The palate has a sense of depth and roundness, a plump NSG yet with tension and poise on the finish. This is only just starting to open up.

The 2018 Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Les Chaignots is performing well in bottle, delivering aromas of sweet berries, cassis, plums, dark chocolate and spices. Medium to full-bodied, rich and elegantly muscular, it's nicely balanced, with plenty of boisterous upfront charm as well as potential for the longer-term.
Discreet but still discernible wood sets off cool, pure and elegant aromas of various dark berries, plum and a touch of freshly turned earth. There is a lovely sense of refinement to the still sleekly muscular and powerful middle weight flavors that possess a sappy mouthfeel on the ever-so-mildly austere, long and serious finale.
Cask sample. Much fresher on the nose than the village Vieilles Vignes though there is still a bit of chunky oak on the palate. Could do with a little more refinement. (JR)
