Tasting notes
Greve in Chianti. 100% Sangiovese. Mid ruby. Aromatic, elegant nose of sour cherry and raspberry with the merest suggestion of oak. Beautiful composition of acidity, red fruit and powdery tannins on the palate. Gorgeous interpretation of Sangiovese and carefully oaked. Needs age. (WS)

The 2015 Chianti Classico Riserva is one of the more reticent wines of the vintage. There is good depth and structure in the glass, but the tannins are a bit firm, whole the wine is quite unyielding. It will be interesting to see if the 2015 opens up with time in the glass. My impression today is that the tannins may be a bit too big for the wine's mid-weight frame. We will see.
About the producer

Literally translating as “beautiful oak”, Querciabella was created in 1974 by Giuseppe Castiglioni. A pioneer in Chianti, he started farming biodynamically and experimenting with both varieties and winemaking – one result of which was Camartina, the property’s flagship Super Tuscan.
