Good medium red. Smoky, musky aromas of raspberry and wild herbs. Ripe, supple and fine-grained; less rough in its texture than the Morey wines. Conveys lovely breadth, an impression of lowish acidity and moderate complexity. The tannins are nicely ripe but this wine does not yet quite come alive.

(from purchased grapes, but the Ligniers carried out a green harvest and picked the grapes): Bright medium red. High-pitched aromas of black cherry and licorice, plus a hint of espresso. Denser and riper than the village Chambolle, showing more stuffing to support its fine-grained tannins. A distinctly elegant style of Gevrey, with a solid rocky underpinning.
