2018 Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon

I have been vocal about the 2018 vintage since the near-perfect growing season. The vintage produced wines of exceptional quality across the board in Margaret River, although it has received some criticism about being a ripe season. I refute this and suggest that the wines have brilliant balance between ripe fruit, ripe tannin and fresh acidity. They will be long lived and graceful in old age. This is also true for the 2018 Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon. Extended maceration on the Abbey Vale component (21 days) has led to savory umami characters that provide a bedrock for the floral fruit and mouth perfume. This is an incredible wine from an incredible vintage. The screw-cap closure will not only ensure bottle consistency from here to Europe, America and beyond, but it will also protect the fruit freshness, which is a defining characteristic of Margaret River Cabernet Sauvignon. 14% alcohol, sealed under screw cap(!).
