Good ruby-red. Expressive aromas of redcurrant, plum, chocolate, earth, cigar box and nutty oak. Sweet and lush but bright, with good shape and definition to its complex flavors of plum, currant, cherry, milk chocolate, fresh herbs and cedary spices.Finishes ripe, dense and long, with an intriguing minerality. This seems as strong as the excellent 2002, but perhaps a bit more forward in style. Also tasted: 2005 Karia Chardonnay Napa Valley.

About the producer

Stag's Leap Wine Cellars
Warren Winiarski founded Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars in 1970 when he purchased the Stag’s Leap Vineyard in Napa’s Stags Leap District. The 1973 S.L.V. Cabernet Sauvignon – only the second vintage – won the famous 1976 Judgement of Paris blind tasting, rocketing the estate to fame.
