Tasting notes
Panzano. 100% Sangiovese. Deep, dark ruby with orange tinges. Firm nose with quite a bit of concentration, and a little brooding. With aeration, astonishing complexity emerges. Lush, juicy and yet still a little compact on the palate, too. Bags of finely chiselled tannins. More a Riserva than a straight Chianti Classico. (WS)

Made with 100% Sangiovese, the 2019 Chianti Classico manages an inky dark color that is unusual for this grape. The bouquet embraces elegant and tapered aromas with blackberry, wild cherry and crushed mineral. Those tones are lifted and bright with a hint of dried cherry or grape skin, but the wine offers plenty of Tuscan character. Production is 28,000 bottles.
A bold and earthy wine, the 2019 Chianti Classico is entirely Sangiovese was aged for 15 months in used Slavonian oak botti. It offers complex aromas of baked black cherry, saddle leather, and damp forest soil and has purity on the palate as well as a full texture, with warming fruit of spiced plum and plush tannins, though it is not weighted down. This impressive red has a lot packed into it. Drink 2024-2036.
