Tasting notes
The Frescobaldi 2020 Chianti Rufina Riserva Nipozzano has dark plummy fruit and presents lots of fun but basic primary intensity. I like the wine's fresh and fruit-forward profile, and I can't image a more suited partner to a plate of spaghetti with fresh tomato sauce. The effect is simple, but the wine shows good energy and brightness. This is a massive release of one million bottles.

Impenetrable dark ruby – Cabernet Sauvignon in the blend? Black forest fruit, sour cherry and sweet new oak with cinnamon-bark hints and dark earth. Clearly pushing the international button but with plenty of character. Tangy cherry and blackberry fruit on the palate and gentle tannins. A wine that is hard to fault and will please many. (WS)
The 2020 Chianti Rufina Riserva is soft, fruity and very easy to like. A burst of sweet red cherry, blood orange, spice, mint and mocha makes a strong first impression. Silky, plush contours wrap it all together.
