Tasting notes
Aromas of baked orange, raisin, ripe peach, beeswax, nougat, and fragrant spices make this an elegant glass to nose. It deals out caramelized sugar, vanilla extract, dark toffee baked orange, pepper, and clove, with a second phase of forest honey, sugared almonds, raisin bread, marzipan, and hints of creamy milk chocolate. More subtle and with less overt sherry dominance than the previous Glenrothes 25 year old release, this is still a polished and stylish expression.

The oldest in the quintet of expressions in the Glenrothes Soleo Collection, this was matured predominantly in first-fill sherry casks. The nose offers pineapple, mango, malt, and nutmeg. Richly sherried on the muscular palate, with caramel, citrus fruits, licorice, and wood tannins. The finish is long and drying, with sherry-soaked old oak. Glenrothes at its very best.
About the producer

The Glenrothes has a long and turbulent history involving fires and many changes in ownership. Despite this, the classic Speyside whisky distillery has become a highly sought-after single malt Scotch and long been a key constituent in the ever-popular Cutty Sark blend.
