Tasting notes
The 2012 Barolo Tradizione is a dark and succulent expression of Nebbiolo from a warm vintage. Plum fruit, tart cherry, balsam herb and black licorice rise from the bouquet with marked intensity. The wine is structured and firm with broad flavors that spread far over the palate. This wine is recommended for near and medium-term consumption.

Here's the newest edition of one of Piedmont's most recognized and celebrated labels. The 2012 Barolo exhibits ripe fruit tones with strawberry and dried cherry at the forefront. Those ripe aromas are out of character for this wine but in line with the warm vintage. It's not easy to discern the complexity that is inherent to Nebbiolo in a vintage like this. In the mouth, the wine offers a fleeting sense of cherry sweetness followed by sudden tannic firmness. Drink this Barolo over the next ten years.
Barolo. Mid ruby with orange tinges. Hints of gingerbread on the nose, and light marasca cherry and touch of dried fruit on the palate. Elegant if grippy, and ready now. (WS)
