Score 94/100 · Drink 2025-2040, Monica Larner, Wine Advocate, Aug 2025

This is one of Masi's most celebrated single-vineyard wines, and I have had the good fortune of tasting vintages of Mazzano dating back to 1979. Fast forward to the 2015 Amarone della Valpolicella Classico Mazzano and you get a wine that opens to an inky black appearance and extremely concentrated fruit tones that are boiled down to a marmalade or syrupy essence. This vintage still adheres to the super concentrated style that made this wine popular decades ago. The alcoholic content of the wine is right up there at 16%. This vintage is especially exuberant, rich, tarry and sweet with Port-like intensity. It is very much over-the-top, so know what to expect. Production is 14,820 bottles.
