The 2021 Chablis Village has a pretty apple blossom-scented bouquet. The palate is clean and fresh, perhaps a little shrill at first, but there is ample weight and concentration on the finish. Drink over the next 4-5 years.

All in tank. Benchmark stone-dust and citrus nose. Tart grapefruit on the palate, a little bit lean and certainly mouth-watering – the lees texture softening it very slightly. (JH)
A non-organic generic wine sourced from purchased grapes in two neighbouring villages, 50% Fontenay-près-Chablis and 50% Béru. Kimmeridgian soils; 6,500 vines/hectare. Vinification and ageing 100% stainless steel. Tank sample. First wine of the day – and the vintage – and not the nervous, edgy start I had expected. It has good fruit, not just green apples, but citrus. It’s fresh, a bit on the short side but it’s definitely Chablis. (MH)
