Score 86/100 · Drink 2018-2021, Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Nov 2018

The 2013 Barolo Roggeri is another powerful wine with searing tannins, little fruit and modest complexity. Scorched earth, smoke, tobacco, leather and incense add to the wine's distinctly brooding feel.

La Morra. Cask sample. Tasted blind. Lustrous ruby with orange tinges. Aromatic, spiced cherry nose with a hint of graphite. Embryonic and quite a backward palate but with fantastic balance. Proper tannic grip on embryonic cherry fruit and tightly woven. Not to be approached for a while. (WS)

La Morra. Almost youthful-looking mid ruby. Deeper and more multifaceted on the nose than their straight Barolo, but stylistically identical. Very compact yet vibrant and with lots of crunchy tannins. Elegant, yet has quite a bit of power. (WS)
