Tasting notes
The Echézeaux is always an interesting wine at this address. Impressive, with more candied fruit, this is one of the vintage’s more robust reds – and the most powerful in Potel’s line-up. Opening with spicy and rich fruit, the tannins are substantial, but actually already well integrated. There is a superb nerve of acidity going through and driving towards an explosion of cherry and toasted strawberrry. Persistent and generous, this is a muscular Grand Cru that will reward time in the cellar. Three barrels produced.

Cask sample. Bright, mid-cherry hue. Vosne perfume! Incense and violets – lovely! On the fragrant and scented end of Échezeaux. Medium body. Excellent length. Fine. (MH)
About the producer

Nicolas Potel is one of Burgundy’s most talented and connected winemakers. He created Maison Roche de Bellene, the négoce arm of Domaine de Bellene, in 2008, using his extensive network in the region to source top-quality fruit for an "haute couture" négociant operation.
