Tasting notes
The 2021 Chambertin from Tortochot has an expressive and enticing nose with sweet fruit and florals. Ripe yet pure raspberry, wild strawberry and cherry fruit swirl from the glass. The palate is lush and intense, with a mouth-watering tartness and a chalky structure that foretells its ageability. Supple and silken with the oak effortlessly absorbed, the finish is long with a crushed-rock minerality.

Here too moderate wood sets off distinctly cool and relatively high-toned notes of red currant, green tea, earth, humus and hints of leather and violet. The dense, impressively powerful and focused large-scaled flavors brim with minerality that carries over to the compact, austere and serious finish where a hint of green tea character slowly emerges. About the producer

Situated in the village of Gevrey-Chambertin, Domaine Tortochot may not carry the cachet of the very top domaines in the village, but it does offer some of the best value, producing wines with great terroir transparency in their top Premiers and Grands Crus, and fabulous village wines.
