The 2018 Pommard Clos Blanc 1er Cru has an almost rambunctious nose with plenty of red and black fruit, truffle, a slight gunpowder element (remember those toy guns that you played with as a kid…that smell of the burning paper… gun caps). The palate is well balanced with a fine bead of acidity. Neatly integrated oak, very focused, caressing with a lively, quite saline finish. Impressive persistence - there is a lot going on in this Pommard and it should mature with style and grace. Tasted blind at the Burgfest 2018 red tasting.

Lightish crimson. Sweet and sour cherry on the nose, lightly peppery and vibrant. Tight, sinewy, fine-grained and light on its feet. (JH)
