Tasting notes
The 1988 Pommard Les Vignots is a wine to search out. It is absolutely fabulous, and in style and character seems to resemble the 1985 more than any other vintage. It has a dazzling rich, highly-scented bouquet of black and red fruits, spicy new oak, and minerals. In the mouth, the wine has awesome concentration and an extremely full body with stunning levels of fruit extract, all handsomely packaged in a medium- to full-bodied format. This gorgeous wine should drink well for up to two decades. The 1988 vintage attests to a remarkably auspicious start for the new Domaine Leroy in Vosne-Romanee.
