The 2019 Pinot Noir Momtazi Vineyard has alluring aromas of wild berry preserves, garrigue, tobacco leaves, flint and cracked pepper. The light-bodied palate is fresh and grainy with delicate, peppery fruit and a long, mineral-driven finish.

Pale ruby with a purple tint. Darker black fruit than the rest of the Nicolas-Jay wines. There's a really strong black-pepper component on the palate – a feral spice, savoury and smoky, with pink peppercorn and an animal quality. This needs age. High acid. This is really quite lovely and I can only see it getting better. (SCJ)
