20% whole bunch. Aged in 500 litre oak puncheons, of which 40% were new. Ultra pure berry fruit, spice, a good hint of floral aroma on the nose. Very well trimmed privet hedge tannins. Broody and intense. With time, the complexity starts emerging – there is a lot more going on here than it first seems. (RH)

Deep purple/black, the 2013 McLaren Vale Syrah reveals pronounced blueberry, cassis, licorice, dark chocolate and tar aromas with hints of violets and cloves. Full-bodied, concentrated and offering tremendous multilayered flavors on the palate, it has a firm backbone of fine-grained tannins, nice freshness and a long finish.
