The 2016 Syrah Grenache is a 69-31 blend of those two varieties. It's darker, richer and plusher than the pure Grenache wines, offering scents of black cherries and blackberries. There's plenty of power on the full-bodied palate, but the wine is creamy in texture, not aggressive at all, with a long, supple finish and lingering, complex notes of dried spices.

Raspberry and redcurrant on the nose, with slight spices. Finely sanded tannin, moderate body, warm alcohol. Lacks the lushness and flesh expected from its origin, it seems to me – rather pinched and lean. Possibly a bit reductive? Certainly below their usual par. (RH)
