The 2018 Chassagne-Montrachet Les Chenevottes 1er Cru has a simple but crisp bouquet of yellow flower and light citrus scents, a touch of wax resin in the background. The palate is well balanced with a sharp citric entry. It feels intense but it needs more complexity and certainly more precision toward the finish. There is something here that reminds me more of a dry Alsace Riesling!

Definitely more interest and pace on the nose than the village Chassagne. Rich underneath but sufficient acidity. Real sinew to this wine. Though the start is pretty sweet. Both rich and racy. Quite long. (JR)
