Tasting notes
The 2020 Puligny-Montrachet Les Demoiselles 1er Cru punches well above expectations. It has a beautiful bouquet with lilting yellow plums, wilted flowers, crushed stones and oyster shells. The palate is fresh on the entry with a fine bead of acidity, intense, almost penetrating citrus fruit, abundant mineralité and tension on the finish. This is a Caillerets that is taking no prisoners. You'll be happily incarcerated! Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting.

The 2020 Puligny-Montrachet Les Demoiselles 1er Cru is more austere than Colin’s Chassagnes, crushed stone and Alpine mountain stream, a touch of kiwi fruit and gooseberry. The palate is has a pleasant bitter edge on the entry: Granny Smith apples, goosebery and citrus lemon, quite saline towards the finish. There is a strictness here that is surprisingly given the growing season, but it should age with style.
