Tasting notes
The 2020 Puligny-Montrachet Les Referts 1er Cru has a lovely bouquet with wonderful mineralité and tension, hints of Granny Smith and Petrichor. There is real energy coiled up in this Puligny. The palate is well-balanced with well-integrated oak. It has a stylistic similarity to Sauzet's Les Perrières, with real tension and poise. A sapid, malic finish lingers long in the mouth. Excellent. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting.

This too is firmly reduced and impossible to aromatically assess in this condition. There is both more volume and mid-palate density to the seductively textured and very punchy flavors that possess a sleek mouthfeel on the focused, long and beautifully well-balanced finale. The Clos du Cromin is good, but this is clearly at another level. Drink: 2027+. Outstanding
Cask sample. This is more like it! Real edge and life to this wine which should provide fine drinking eventually. Long and impressive. (JR)
