The 2019 Produttori del Barbaresco has immediate appeal with its lifted, bright and delicately floral aromas. On the palate, there is a lovely clarity to the red-fruit profile of wild strawberries, red liquorice and camphor. The tannins are notably fine and detailed, bringing depth and structure. The real appeal comes from the vibrancy and tension in the wine. It has found a lovely balance of power and finesse, with plenty of fleshy fruit and mouthwatering freshness.

In this vintage, the Rabajà was served third from last in a flight of nine owing to its depth and robust mouthfeel. The Produttori del Barbaresco 2019 Barbaresco Riserva Rabajà is saturated and dark with a tight core of blackcurrant that is framed by crushed stone, spice and a sweet hint of smoked meat. It shows a sultry and smoky personality. (ML)
Vivid medium ruby color. The wine is finely tuned, with sweet violets, leafy lightness and red currants. Medium-bodied on the palate with violet notes, velvety tannins, refreshing acidity and a long, crisp finish. There is sternness here but personality.
This wine represents 50% of this highly respected co-op’s production. (25% is their Nebbiolo Langhe and 20–25% single vineyards, released as Riservas after one extra year’s ageing.) Bottled March 2022. There are just a few thousand bottles left. Transparent and already almost brick, but blackish. Mellow nose already nicely integrated. Round and spicy with some balsam. Very agreeable! Nice energy. Fine tannins only on the end. (JR)
