2002 Wehlener Sonnenuhr Spatlese Auction 14 18

While the 2002 Riesling Spatlese Wehlener Sonnenuhr * (artist label) was able, with considerable air, to reveal its aromatic profile, its personality may have remained constrained. White peaches, candied minerals, as well as hints of red fruits can be discerned in its bouquet and flavor profile. Soft, silky, and light to medium-bodied, this effort never blossomed in the glass. Whether that can be traced to its reduction and sulfur problems or to a lack of concentration will be revealed in time. Projected maturity: 2006-2015.
