Tasting notes
The 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon is a dark, sumptuous, flamboyantly ripe wine. This is especially opulent, even by Kongsgaard standards. Chocolate, plum, cloves, new leather, licorice and spice build in a pliant, sumptuous Cabernet that will drink well right out of the gate. A year ago, the 2017 was massively tannic; today, it is much more suave and sensual, albeit with huge depth to back that up.

Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon rocks up with ready-for-biz notes of baked black plums, crème de cassis and fruit cake, plus hints of red roses, stewed tea, dusty soil and chocolate box with the faintest waft of star anise. Medium to full-bodied, the palate features loads of juicy black fruit preserves flavors and a chewy frame, finishing with a refreshing lift and loads of earthy sparks.
The 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon is outrageously beautiful. Savory, dense and earthy with a distinctly Old World sense of structure, the 2017 is shaping up to be a real gem. In a vintage in which so many wines are opulent, Kongsgaard's Cabernet Sauvignon is unusually tannic and brooding in feel, even though the blend incorporates 20% Merlot.
