Tasting notes
The 2020 Chablis Montée de Tonnerre 1er Cru, a blend of three parcels that contains 85-year-old vines, the oldest owned by the domaine. Aged only in stainless-steel vats, it has a fragrant bouquet with green apples, Conference pear and light peppermint notes, almost verging on liquorice. The palate is well balanced with fine acidity, quite linear and strict, but very fresh with fine tension on the finish.

So much lemony character and chalky and garden herb freshness it makes you feel glad to be alive! Spot-on balance of crispness and restrained creaminess on the medium-bodied palate. So straight and pure at the long, crystalline finish. Drink or hold.
Tank sample. A little richer on the mid palate than the Vaillons, but sill with tension and a high-acid freshness. A little bit peppery. Mouth-watering, sinewy, a little severe. (JH)
