Tasting notes
The Monteraponi 2020 Baron'Ugo is organic Sangiovese with a tiny addition of Canaiolo and Colorino from 50+-year-old vines. I found this vintage to be a little uneven (compared to 2019 and 2018) with earthy or leather-like aromas that add a certain heaviness to the bouquet, at least initially. I came back to a second bottle later in the day, and the wine's tart fruit aromas came through with greater clarity.

The 2020 Baron'Ugo is sourced from the highest vineyard on the estate and spent 36 months in cask. Crushed flowers, dried red cherry fruit, mint, slate and white pepper all run through this airy, gracious red. The elevation of this site comes through in the wine's ethereal, understated personality. There's a bit of austerity here, but, then again, this is Radda.
