Tasting notes
Opaque magenta. Incisive blackberry and kirsch aromas are complemented by suggestions of exotic spices, incense and olive paste. Round and fleshy but energetic as well, offering intense, mineral-tinged black and blue fruit liqueur, candied violet, salty olive and spicecake flavors that are braced by a spine of juicy acidity. A smoky note builds on the youthfully tannic finish, which hangs on with strong, spice- and mineral-driven tenacity. This wine is made from old Serine vines grown in the granitic soils of Gervans.

Leading off the red Northern Rhônes from barrel, the 2020 Crozes-Hermitage is medium to full-bodied, textured, and seamless, with classic berry, darker fruits, pepper, and violet aromatics. I love its texture.
Sourced mainly from the area around Gervans, Barruol's 2020 Crozes Hermitage features peppery, slightly ash-like scents, plus notes of black olives and blackberries. Medium to full-bodied, it's silky and fine, with a touch of licorice creeping in on the finish.
