Tasting notes
The 2016 Extra-Brut Blanc de Noirs (from Mareuil and Verzy) is airy, gracious and light on its feet, as so many Champagnes are in this vintage. Crushed flowers, sweet red berry fruit, mint and hard candy lend tons of charm. The bouquet is quite pleasant, all this is missing is a bit of mid-palate pliancy. I would prefer to drink it on the early side. Dosage is 4.5 grams per liter. Disgorged: September 2022.

Only Premier Cru and Grand Cru sites are selected for the 2016 Champagne Blanc de Noirs Extra Brut. The nose has a very pure perfume of raspberry, red plum, and crushed roses, and it is fleshy on the palate, with a fine mousse and notes of wild strawberry, blood orange, and almond. The house excels at this style, and this example is no exception with its ripeness and purity. Drink 2024-2044.
Disgorged in April 2022, the 2016 Extra-Brut Blanc de Noirs is a very classy wine, delivering aromas of red apples, pear, honeycomb and nectarine, followed by a medium to full-bodied, fleshy and layered palate that's broad, textural and vinous. A serious, gastronomic Champagne, it will work well at table.
The 2016 Extra-Brut Blanc de Noirs is a powerful, resonant Champagne full of Pinot character. Red cherry fruit, spice, leather, incense and dried flowers convey tons of Pinot nuance, while pretty floral top notes lend brightness. The 2016 is perhaps a bit lithe at the outset, but it opens beautifully with time, offering terrific energy and verve. Dosage is 4.5 grams per liter. Disgorged: March, 2022.
