Tasting notes
The 2006 Syrah Colson Canyon is the most classic Syrah in the lineup. It’s ruby/plum color is followed by terrific notes of spice-box, pepper, cured meats and ample dark fruits. Like all these Syrahs, it’s full-bodied and concentrated on the palate, but has a terrific sense of elegance, purity and balance. I like it today, but it has another decade of longevity as well.

The inky/ruby/purple-tinged 2006 Syrah Colson Canyon Vineyard offers up scents of wild herbs, black fruits, roasted meats, leather, and spice. While slightly more tannic and structured than its two predecessors, it reveals outstanding depth, purity, and balance. It will benefit from a year of bottle age, and should keep for 7-8. Joey Tensley continues to demonstrate a fine touch with Rhone varietals from Santa Barbara. Tel. (805) 688-6761; Fax (805) 688-0591
