Tasting notes
Espresso, cocoa, cherries and floral aromas open the wine. On the palate, the wine is round, forward and chocolatey with a dusty note in the red fruited finish. You can drink this on release. Drink from 2024-2032.

The 2021 Château de la Rivière has a clean nose with adequate black fruit, but the oak that was quite obtrusive en primeur is no better integrated. The palate is ripe but a little chewy, slightly monotone with a sweet, candied finish that feels dour after two or three sips. I've encountered better vintages of this Fronsac in the past.
Good depth of cassis, dark plums, mineral, tapenade, dark earth and grilled peppery spices. Medium body on the palate with plenty of currants and red cherries here. Tannins are tight and fine-grained. A very good delivery from this vintage. Drink now.
The 2021 Château de la Rivière has a simple, slightly oaky but vigorous nose. The palate is sweet and candied on the entry, though the oak is rather intrusive on the midpalate and slightly dries out the finish.
