Tasting notes
Rocking aromatics of grilled pineapple, honeyed mint, spice, and ripe tangerines all emerge from the 2021 Château Doisy Daëne, a pure, medium to full-bodied, beautifully balanced Barsac that has good acidity, lots of sweetness, and a great finish. I love the overall purity here, and this beauty should easily evolve for two decades, if not longer.

The 2021 Doisy-Daëne has a complex bouquet with white peach, quince, honeysuckle and light resinous aromas that are all beautifully defined. The palate is very well-balanced with impressive depth. As I commented from barrel, whilst not the most complex Doisy-Daëne I have tasted, it has a purity that is entrancing.
The 2021 Doisy-Daëne is sensational. A wine of purity, delineation and class, this is captivating from the very first taste. Nothing is out of balance. The 2021 is a Barsac where the whole is far greater than the sum of its parts. Light floral inflections meld into baked apple tart, mint, apricot and ripe pear. I especially admire its energy and focus. Doisy-Daëne will appeal most to readers who appreciate understated Barsac and Sauternes.
The 2021 Doisy Daëne stands out for its delightful bouquet of ripe orchard fruits, passion fruit, exotic fruits and spring flowers. Medium-bodied, tense and lively, it’s concentrated for the vintage, with a stunning freshness and a saline finish enhanced by bright acids. While it may not reach the complexity and richness of the most memorable Doisy Daëne vintages, its flawless execution is undeniable.
About the producer

This Second Growth estate has origins dating back to the late 1800s. It is, however, under the ownership of the Dubourdieu family – who took over the Barsac property in 1924 – that Ch. Doisy-Daëne truly flourished.
