Tasting notes
The 2019 Gevrey-Chambertin Les Cazetiers 1er Cru continues to show a patina of new oak, dark berry fruit, sous-bois and light floral scents, iris petal and violet. This gains cohesion with time in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with a slightly powdery texture. This has a wonderful mouthfeel, slightly granular, with dark berry fruit laced with tobacco and graphite and a classically-styled finish that lingers long in the mouth. Superb. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting.

Wafting from the glass with scents of sweet berry fruit, smoked meats, rich soil tones, peonies and mandarin orange, Rousseau's 2019 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Les Cazetiers is medium to full-bodied, fleshy and enveloping, with fine depth at the core, lively acids and velvety structuring tannins. This is shaping up nicely.
