The 2019 Pommard Les Jarollières 1er Cru doesn't possess the charm or vitality of David Launay's Clos Blanc on the nose. It’s slightly dour, showing earthy dark berry fruit and a touch of forest floor. The palate is medium-bodied with a saline opening and quite fine tannins, but overall I find this is missing some complexity and needs more brightness on the granular, tertiary finish. That said, this is one Pommard that improves in bottle, attaining a little more precision on the finish as it responds to aeration. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting.
