The 2015 Barolo Bussia is one of the most complete and satisfying wines I have tasted from Prunotto in a very long time. A whole range of expressive, balsamic-infused notes typical of Bussia makes a strong opening statement. Rich and layered on the palate, the Bussia develops nicely in the glass. Air brings out the ripeness of the vintage, with plenty of macerated cherry, spice and floral character. Everything is impeccably balanced in the 2015.

The 2015 Barolo Bussia is characterized by a dusty mineral note of crushed seashell or slate that cuts through the entirety of this wine. That dusty, almost salty characteristic is accompanied by wild berry, wild rose, dark spice and licorice. Both the tannins and the acidity are very well integrated here, resulting in a fine, silky texture on the finish.

Monforte d’Alba. Tasted blind. Developing mid ruby with orange tinges. A little stalky, and balsamic and a little bit closed in terms of the fruit. Sweet strawberry fruit with a stalky streak and rustic tannins. Not entirely focused and with touches of stalks. (WS)

This shows bright red cherries with a neat and approachable, fruit-forward feel that is all about charm. The tannins are wrapped in sweet, fleshy fruit flavor. Really fresh and delicious 2015 Barolo. Drink or hold.
