Tasting notes
The Tradition bottlings are Donatsch's "village" wines. The 2020 Pinot Noir has a light appearance in pigmentation only – the colour itself is deep and bright. It offers a beautiful, floral and fruit-driven nose with raspberry, red cherry, liquorice, blackcurrants, terracotta and violets. The palate is shockingly seductive. It's round and glossy, with intense, fruity purity and creamy fullness, but pierced by bright acidity. Any sense that this is a light wine is forgotten on the impressively long, persistent finish. It's only 13% alcohol, and this is a decidedly pretty wine, but one that should not be underestimated. So much grace and sophistication here for the money.

Donatsch's 2020 Pinot Noir Tradition displays a medium-intense to bright cherry color along with a corresponding pure and spicy cherry bouquet that is elegant, fresh, charming and uncompromisingly fruity on the nose that is full of overtones yet lacks complexity. On the palate, this is a light to medium-bodied, pure yet pretty intense, lush, refined and finely grippy Swiss Pinot Noir in a fruity style. A fabulous entry-level Pinot! 13% stated alcohol. Diam cork. Tasted in January 2022.
