Tasting notes
The 2019 Griotte-Chambertin Grand Cru is a magical bottle in the making, wafting from the glass with complex aromas of cherries, peonies, bergamot, coniferous forest floor and dark chocolate. Full-bodied, layered and complete, it's suave and satiny, with a deep, strikingly intense core of fruit framed by lively acids and ultra-refined tannins. It is another terrific rendition of a cuvée that's regularly—and, to my palate, increasingly—one of the Côte de Nuits's greatest wines.

The 2019 Griotte-Chambertin Grand Cru has a seductive bouquet of ripe black cherries and wild strawberry, very focused and in some ways more understated than others that I have tasted. The palate is medium-bodied with a somewhat honey-textured opening, quite sweet but not extrovert, and a slight confit -like element toward the finish. Fine length here, although I might just prefer the Chapelle-Chambertin overall.
