Haisma: ' My first was 2018, and 2019 is a beautiful, far more refined follow-on to the first. We have 50% new oak here, but the oak is so very good that it only brings intrigue to the wine. Yes you see it, but give this wine some years and it will fit beautifully in the landscape of this wine. This is again a two-barrel option, so again only six bottles per person.' Very opulent, precise, only very lightly smoky contemporary Meursault. Satin textured but with refreshing greenery-yallery fruit. Pure and delightful. By far his best white. And no obvious oak now… (JR)
The 2019 Meursault Sous Le Velle has a generous bouquet of light tropical fruit (passion fruit and grapefruit), very well defined despite its opulence. The palate is balanced with a fine bead of acidity, a little creaminess from the new oak and gorgeous white peach and lemon curd notes on the finish. Very delicious.
