Tasting notes
Garnet hue. Open on the nose with a ripe, red-berry expression. Palate round and just a touch ‘solar’ but fresh as well. Tannins firm offering quite a serious structure. (JL)

The 2015 Saumur Champigny is deep, refined and elegant on the clear and fresh nose that displays very fine dark berry and iodine as well as chalky and herbal aromas. Round, intense and juicy on the palate, with fine tannins and acidity, this is a silky, deep and fleshy, very fine and elegant yet also lush and balanced Cabernet with fine tannins and a long and intense, aromatic finish. 12.5% alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted in September 2021.
About the producer

Clos Rougeard is one of the Loire Valley’s most famous producers. Based in Saumur-Champigny, it produces fine Cabernet Franc in tiny volumes – wines that are almost impossible to source.
