Tasting notes
From unquestionably one of the greatest terroirs for Viognier in the world, the 2016 Condrieu Lieu-Dit Vernon offers lots of apple blossom, crushed citrus, white flowers, and obvious minerality. It's deep, beautifully concentrated, has good acidity, and a balanced, lengthy style that s going to evolve gracefully. Give bottles another year and drink through 2026.

Limpid yellow. Intense, sharply delineated aromas of fresh nectarine, pear nectar, orange and pungent flowers, along with a vibrant mineral overtone. Sappy citrus and orchard fruit and honeysuckle flavors stain the palate and become deeper with air, picking up a touch of anise and showing powerful back-end cut. The mineral quality repeats emphatically on a strikingly long, sharply focused finish that leaves juicy pear and floral notes behind.
Barrel sample – still cloudy. Leesy, yeasty notes on the nose, but wonderful tropical fruit as well as rich butter notes too. This is maximum Viognier with unctuous body, rich fruits and strong dairy influence. For the hardcore. (RH)
