Tasting notes
The 2017 Barolo Vigna Rionda comes across as a bit monolithic and closed, as if the aromas and flavors are not fully developed. Firm, edgy tannins suggest these vines may have suffered under the stressful conditions of the warm, dry growing season.

Closed with an elegant red wax seal, the 2017 Barolo Vignarionda shows a broad and rich delivery that speaks to the hot and dry vintage. The wine glides smoothly over the palate, pushed forward by concentrated cherry, blackberry, smoky tar and licorice. Thanks to the wine's origins in Serralunga d'Alba, that added fruit weight and intensity are expected. However, this vintage is richer still and even a bit monotone in personality, generally speaking. You'd do well to give this bottle time to age in your cellar.
