The 2013 Champagne Blanc de Blancs Brut is a breath of fresh air with its classic appeal of green apple, white linen, and lime blossoms. It was raised in 30% oak barrels and the rest stainless steel and only produced in magnums that rested on the lees for 84 months. The palate is rounded and fresh, with a creamy textured mousse and notes of marzipan, pear, and melon. Drink it over the next three decades.

Disgorged in October 2019 with eight grams per liter dosage, Margaine's 2013 Brut Blanc de Blancs Special Club is very good indeed, wafting from the glass with aromas of crisp yellow orchard fruit, Meyer lemon, toasted macadamia nuts, bee pollen and white flowers. Medium to full-bodied, fleshy and enveloping, with brisk acids and a fine but youthfully frothy mousse, it's charming and precise, concluding with a beautifully defined finish. This has turned out beautifully and will offer a broad drinking window.
The 2013 Spécial Club offers a striking expression of Chardonnay. Rich and creamy in the glass, the Spécial Club is so alluring. Partial vinification in oak adds texture and a hint of oakiness, but is not obtrusive at all. Lemon confit, marzipan, white flowers and a touch of spice fill out the layers nicely. I would give it at least a year or two in bottle to soften, as the finish is just a bit tight today. Dosage is 8 grams per liter. Disgorged: October, 2019.
