Score 94/100 · Drink 2020-2035, Stephan Reinhardt, Wine Advocate, Aug 2020

Predominantly from the Kirchberg, the 2017 Spätburgunder Bellen opens with a pure, fresh and nicely reductive yet elegant and seductively aromatic bouquet of ripe red cherries and redcurrant with some floral, peppery and refreshing phenolic notes. This is seriously concentrated yet always pure, fresh and elegant. Silky-textured, pure and elegant on the palate, this is a tight but juicy, well-concentrated and persistent Pinot with an intense yet pure and ripe red-fruit expression, fine yet crunchy and refreshing tannins and chalky freshness. This is a Burgundian classic from the Breisgau and one of the finest Pinots you can find in all of Baden. The 2017 has so much energy, finesse and purity... just fabulous! 12% alcohol. Tasted from lot L/0119 in July 2020. 1,148 bottles made.
