Tasting notes
Clinet has been owned by the Laborde family since 1999 (Ronan Laborde is current head of the UGCB). After restructuring of the vineyards and more deliberate selection, they started this second wine with the 2016 vintage. 95% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Franc on deep clay soils. 12 months in oak. Deep cherry red with smudgy rim. Ripe, sweet-fruited and dark-red-fruited and lightly spicy with a touch of classic bordeaux cigar box and an attractive stony note. On the palate, smooth and polished, the tannins well rounded but present enough for the wine to be drunk with food and to age well over the next few years. Lovely harmony and finishes fresh with a snap of lively tangy acidity. (JH)

About the producer

With Ronan Laborde at the helm, this property has become one of Pomerol’s most sought-after. He has increased the proportion of Cabernet Sauvignon, which historically represented half the vineyard area here.
