Score 92/100 · Drink 2017-2020, Luis Gutiérrez, Wine Advocate, Dec 2016
The 2013 Genitori Gualta is a blend of Malbec and Cabernet Franc (65/35) fermented in rolling oak barrels. There is less effect of the élevage than in previous vintages, which lasts one year in T5 Taransaud barrels. The barrels were new in 2011 and 2012 and were reused in this 2013, which was also a cooler vintage, so there is less impact from the oak in the wine that, even if it's oaky, is less oaky than before. The palate is medium-bodied, with some grainy tannins and sweet spice flavors. I'd wait one more year for the oak to get better integrated. Some 900 bottles produced.
