Tasting notes
Smelling like a juicy Chinon, the 2019 Breton opens up with juicy red cherry skin with dusty plums over red flowers on the nose that soon smells of green bell pepper, mint and sage. Medium-bodied, the palate offers a delightful expression of dusty red fruit before expressing buttressing tannins across the mid-palate, concluding with soft confectionery notes of cherried herbs across the lingering finish. Almost 1,600 bottles were produced.

The 2019 Breton comprises 100% Cabernet Franc with 65% whole-bunch ferment, aged in used oak. The compelling bouquet of cedar- and tobacco-infused black fruit is very intense and beautifully defined. The medium-bodied palate is fresh and vibrant, with grainy tannins, tobacco, sage and white pepper on the finish. Alongside Raats, this is one of the Cape's finest exemplars of the grape variety.
