The 2018 Chablis Valmur Grand Cru has a pretty and open bouquet with subtle wild peach and orange pith notes. It is well-defined and demonstrates nicely integrated oak. The palate is well-balanced with fine acidity, taut and fresh. One of the more saline wines of the flight with superb length on the finish. This has class and breeding. The 2018 Chablis Valmur Grand Cru has a brisk, earthy nose displaying touches of fern and citrus peel, though I would have liked a bit more intensity and attack considering the vineyard in question. The palate is pretty and nicely poised, with a twist of sour lemon lending tension on the entry. Moderate in weight, this is a linear Valmur that feels a little harsh on the finish at the moment. The jury is out on this one.
What a beautiful white with many fine, intertwined layers of fruit and acidity, delivering such a serious and subtle glass. It’s medium-to full-bodied with creamy texture and a flavorful finish. Really intriguing and thought-provoking. Drink or hold.
