Tasting notes
The 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon is every bit as monumental as it was from barrel last year. Rich, deep and powerful, the 2016 is endowed with tremendous fruit concentration and all of the structure to back it up. Wild, savory and super-expressive from the very first taste, the 2016 is utterly magnificent. Wild cherry, grilled herbs, new leather, licorice and mocha infuse the 2016 with tremendous brooding power. The 2016 represents a striking, contemporary expression. All the Mayacamas signatures are there, but with just an extra kick of finesse that makes the 2016 a Cabernet of total allure.

The 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon is an insanely beautiful wine. I don't really know how else to describe it. Soaring aromatics meld into a core of vivid, sculpted fruit. In the glass, the 2016 is incredibly pure, with striking inner sweetness, breathtaking beauty and terrific freshness. Time only helps bring out those qualities further. What is even more remarkable is that the 2016 made it through the 2017 fires unscathed. In that sense, it is a miracle wine. I expect the 2016 will one day take its place among the very greatest Cabernets made at Mayacamas. It is every bit that profound.
